Kia ora,
It’s been a productive month at the Chamber!
Thank you to those that completed our 1-minute member survey to give us a snapshot of what you want out of your membership. It’s rewarding to hear all respondents would recommend or maybe recommend membership – our job is to build on that and deliver what is needed…. Stay tuned!
Last week we hosted the Pacific Business Trust whose values align with ours to increase business capability and maximise economic contribution – their focus being on the Pacific community. It was lovely to be in the room with the many local Pacific business owners and feel the vibrancy and support they give each other. We look forward to working with them in the future.
We also hosted an event with Hon Erica Stanford in her capacity as Immigration Minister. The well thought out and considered questions by the audience gave great insight into the challenges experienced in our region. Her acknowledgement to take these issues back to her staff for consideration was greatly appreciated by those in the room. Once again, a reminder that a shared voice holds weight, and I encourage you all to make the most of attending these types of events in the future.
On that note, the Infometrics event next week promises to also bring many insights into how we are tracking as a region. The most recent stats will be presented by Nick Brunsdon. Get your tickets now!

Draft Trade Waste Bylaw 2025
|
Marlborough District Council are proposing to replace the Trade Waste Bylaw 2011 with the proposed Draft Trade Waste Bylaw 2025.
Trade waste discharged into the public wastewater system can negatively impact the environment, public health, and Council infrastructure. It is produced by various businesses, including wine producers, manufacturers, food outlets, service stations, hairdressers, abattoirs, fish/mussel processing, dentists and medical centres. Feedback on this new plan is now invited so we encourage you to have your say before 3 May.

Ōhinemahuta Nature School is seeking sponsorship for 10-12 children.
Ōhinemahuta Nature School is a one-day-a-week forest school for children aged 6-16 years. Their programme blends outdoor exploration, survival skills, and Māori cultural practices with literacy, numeracy, and science in a hands-on way.
They welcome a mix of students aged 6-16 years, however many children cannot attend due to financial barriers.
Sponsoring one child for a year costs $2,250. Please contact Emily Lemmens below to find out more.
