Join us on Tuesday 3 March for our catch-up & learn about Space Create! 


Space Create is a Marlborough District Council initiative that brings new life to town centres by activating vacant and underused spaces with creative, community-led projects. Supporting temporary public art, installations and active experiences, the programme injects energy, visibility and fresh ideas into the town centre. Inspired by successful initiatives such as Gap Filler (Christchurch), Urban Dream Brokerage (Wellington) and Make/Shift Spaces (Nelson), Space Create uses creativity as a catalyst for placemaking, wellbeing and urban regeneration. Join us for a presentation and hear first-hand about the programme and its potential impact in Marlborough.


Nicola Neilson: Nicola Neilson is the Arts, Culture and Heritage Manager at Marlborough District Council, with a background in arts and event management. She works to support creative communities, placemaking and cultural initiatives across Marlborough. 


Councillor Ben Stace: Newly elected Ben Stace has the portfolio for the CBD and is a Councillor with a mission: to help Blenheim find its groove again. As a local business owner, Ben understands firsthand the unique challenges facing our small business community and knows that a healthy CBD requires more than just foot traffic—it needs soul. A staunch supporter of the Space Create initiative, Ben believes that infusing art, culture, and 'vibe' into our streets is a key strategic move for a resilient local economy. He’s excited to join Nicola Neilson on March 3rd to discuss how creative thinking and Council partnership are paving the way for a more energetic, prosperous, and revitalised Blenheim.
