The Marine Farming Association is a regional industry body representing aquaculture interests in the top of the South Island of New Zealand (Te Tauihi).

The species farmed in the area are King Salmon, Green Lip Mussels and Pacific Oysters.

A great deal of the marine farming in New Zealand happens in the Top of the South.

• Green Shell Mussels (Indigenous to NZ) - 65% of New Zealand’s total production is from the Top of the         South.
• King Salmon - 61% of New Zealand’s total production is from the Top of the South.
• Pacific Oysters - 8% of New Zealand’s total production is from the Top of the South.

The organization has 130 members and covers approximately 95% of the industry.
