Breakfast with Craig Cotton, SkillsVR

Friday, 26 August 2022 (8:00 AM - 9:30 AM) (NZST)

Description

Craig Cotton, SkillsVR’s CCO, will be our guest speaker at the breakfast as James has had an emergency come up in the US.

Craig and James went through Palmerston North Boys High School together and now work closely to scale their technology business globally. James is really disappointed that he is unable to join us in person (he has been learning Te Reo for the past 4 weeks to prepare for the event), but we're delighted that Craig will be stepping in for James.

James, Founder and Co-CEO of Skills VR, started the business in 2013 with the goal to change people’s lives through the teaching of life and business skills by giving individuals the opportunity to own and run their own business. This experience highlighted the massive skills gap that was evident for job seekers as well as the challenges individuals had in acquiring the necessary skills to be employable.

Traditional education was not working, we needed to find a new way to deliver training that is fun, engaging and immersive that delivers very high learning outcomes. We believe that everyone has a right to valued employment, regardless of education, literacy or location and that coupled with the current skills training methods being outdated and failing the business community – SkillsVR was born.

Join us to hear from James about his work and vision for the future of workplace learning. Then pop into the VR Zone at the Empower Te Rangapikikōtuku Coding and Esport Festival to see VR learning in action.
